ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Procurement Manager, you will oversee PolyPeptide’s procurement activities, focusing on optimizing price, quality, delivery terms, and business continuity. Based in Malmö, Limhamn, this role reports directly to the Director of Global Procurement. You have the availability for traveling up to 20% since this position requires it.
You will play a key role in driving improvements in PolyPeptide’s sourcing metrics within your assigned categories for direct categories used in the production of peptides, e.g. starting materials (protected amino acids), intermediates, etc. This involves ensuring seamless support to Operations, Product Development, Sales, and Marketing by identifying, qualifying, and managing supplier sources. Your efforts will ensure that all procured products meet PolyPeptide’s requirements, align with business objectives, and deliver the best value for the company and our customers.
Main Responsibilities
Category Management
- Category Excellence: Leading the development, implementation and monitoring of the category / sourcing strategies – considering internal business requirements and company goals.
- Stay market-savvy: Track supplier market trends, identify opportunities from shifts, and challenge price changes with economic insights.
- Ensure compliance: Adhere to company policies, quality management systems, procurement certifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver measurable results: Pro-actively identify, drive and report significant cost savings initiatives of purchased goods, supplier consolidation and leverage opportunity, service delivery improvements, process efficiencies, risk mitigation and standardization while driving for a highly responsive supply chain.
- Coordinate global stock: Manage global raw material inventories when applicable.
Sourcing & Contracting
- Drive impactful negotiations: Secure and maintain agreements that minimize risk, provide optimal terms, and overcome implementation barriers effectively.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Foster supplier relationships: Build and enhance strong partnerships with suppliers for long-term success.
- Monitor and address supplier performance: Regularly review supplier performance to maintain high standards and drive improvements. Resolve non-conformance and performance issues with cross-functional teams to ensure supply continuity.
- Expand networks: Build industry connections by attending exhibitions and consolidating supplier relationships.
Suppliers & Material Qualification
- Qualify new suppliers: Collaborate with QA and technical teams to evaluate and onboard suppliers that meet product specifications and minimize risks – incl. tech transfers.
- Support GMP compliance: Ensure procurement activities align with GMP requirements and industry standards.
- Harmonize specifications: Support efforts to standardize product specifications across operations.
- Participate in quality audits: Collaborate with QA to audit suppliers when required.
Stakeholder Management
- Engage stakeholders: Involve key stakeholders early in sourcing processes to maintain transparency and objectivity.
- Align global and local procurement: Ensure clear communication and synergy between global and local procurement teams.
Environment, Safety and Governance (ESG) / Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
- Conduct ESG/CSR reviews and incorporate into category strategies and planning activities.
YOUR PROFILE
- Bachelor’s degree in business, chemical or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in strategic procurement with intense knowledge of category management or equivalent
- Experience with GMP & pharmaceutical industry
- Experience of distribution within the life science market is of value
- Strong communication and project management skills with the ability to effectively lead and manage teams in a global environment
- Strong IT-knowledge with ERP / BI (Qlik) / SRM systems
- Fluent in English
